Kayla is a physiotherapist, climber, mother, and co-owner of Bolder Health and Performance. She earned her Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Alberta, following a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of Calgary. With extensive experience in private practice, Kayla focuses on treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions.
Kayla is dedicated to ongoing education, holding certifications in acupuncture, biomedical dry needling, Active Release Technique, and advanced manual therapy through the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. She is also qualified to order diagnostic imaging and has received additional training in shoulder, elbow, and pelvic injury assessment, climbing movement analysis and climbing injuries, running gait assessment, and blood flow restriction therapy.
Her approach to rehabilitation emphasizes analyzing movement patterns and postures, creating functional, progressive exercise programs, and using manual therapy to restore optimal mobility and function. Patient education, goal-setting, and self-management are central to her practice.
Kayla has a special interest in climbing-related injuries and injury prevention, and has led workshops on injury prevention for climbers. She is also highly focused on non-operative shoulder management.
Outside of work, Kayla enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and pursues activities like running, bouldering, snowboarding, and water sports.
