Physiotherapy

Your physiotherapist will provide a comprehensive assessment based on your functional goals, and create and discuss a treatment plan and options for recovery that are right for you. Your treatment will include education on your injury, mechanics, treatment plan options, self management strategies, injury prevention, and exercise prescription with measurable goals. Our therapists also provide manual therapy, and are certified in acupuncture and dry needling. Some of our therapists are also certified in the use of blood flow restriction training, ordering diagnostic imaging if needed, can perform functional on the wall climbing assessments and climbing performance assessments, and running assessment/gait analysis. We also offer vestibular assessments.

Kayla Eagle

Physiotherapist, MScPT, BKin, CAFCI

Kayla is a physiotherapist, climber, mother, and co-owner of Bolder Health and Performance. 

Kayla graduated from the University of Alberta with a Master’s of Science in Physical Therapy following a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of Calgary. Practicing as a registered physiotherapist, she has worked extensively in private practice working with a broad spectrum of musculoskeletal conditions.

Kayla has a strong interest in additional post-graduate education, which has included certification in acupuncture, biomedical dry needling, Active Release Technique, advanced manual therapy courses through the orthopaedic division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, and the ordering of diagnostic Imaging. She has taken additional training in the assessment and treatment of shoulder conditions and injuries, elbow and pelvic injuries, assessing movement patterns including climbing movement assessments, running gait assessment, and blood flow restriction.

Her approach to rehab is centred around analyzing movement patterns and postures, creating functional progressive exercises and using manual therapy techniques to address altered mechanics and restore optimal mobility and function. She is also very keen on patient education, helping patients establish realistic goals, and focusing on self-management. 

Kayla has a special interest in climbing related injuries and injury prevention, and has taught youth education workshops on preventing injury in youth competition climbers.  She also has a keen interest in non-operative shoulder management.

When she is not working, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her family or at the local climbing gym. She enjoys running, bouldering, snowboarding, golf, and water sports.

Zoe Frank

PT, MScPT, BSc(honours)

Zoe grew up in Montreal as a competitive figure skater which spearheaded her interest in treating sports injuries and working with athletes. She completed her Bachelor of Sciences degree at Queen’s University, which is where she first began rock climbing with the local climbing club. She quickly fell in love with the sport and the community. She moved to Calgary in 2019 to pursue climbing adventures in the mountains. She earned her Master’s of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Alberta in December 2022.

Zoe’s goal is to create treatment plans that are deeply intertwined with the individual’s goals and interests. She has a strong belief in the healing power of movement, and incorporates exercise and education at the forefront of her care. She strives to help individuals get back to the sports they love in the healthiest form possible. Having taken clinical courses on running injuries, climbing finger injuries, as well as concussion management, Zoe has the knowledge to assess and treat a wide variety of conditions. 

Outside of work, Zoe loves to play in the mountains in as many different ways as possible. You may find her at the local crag, skiing fresh pow in the backcountry, running along steep mountain trails, or fueling her love of coffee at the nearest cafe.
